Oliver Stone directed this John Ridley screenplay adapted from Ridley's novel Stray Dogs. A drifter (Sean Penn) eludes Las Vegas collection agents and arrives in a small town where he decides to linger after his car has a breakdown. Here he gets involved with the locals, including an unhappily married couple -- a businessman (Nick Nolte) and his seductive, femme-fatale wife (Jennifer Lopez). A trailer trash teen (Claire Danes) also approaches him in an effort to get away from her abusive boyfriend (Joaquin Phoenix). Tensions in the town escalate, eventually leading to murder. This is one of my favorite movies - a definite must-see when you think YOU are having a bad day. Great characters, great acting.

This is a great movie. One of my 3 favorite Stone films alongside JFK, and Natural Born Killers. It is pretty similar to NBK. Amazing cast top to bottom, great cinematography, and fantastic dialogue. I love the whole conversation with the waitress when he orders a beer "...plain old miller, now you can *#$ing take it, or you can *#$ing leave it" "well ma'am, I'll *#$ing take it" Great movie, very dark, funny, and about the worst POSSIBLE day anyone could ever have.

Very entertaining mystery-thriller-comedy from Oliver Stone that is unlike any of his other films. Even Jennifer Lopez is good in it and I usually can't stand her.
