Waco: The Rules of Engagement (1997)
Member Rating:
Director William Gazecki's documentary on 1994's 51-day siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, TX, which ended with the destruction of the compound by fire and the death of 70 members inside, is a strong and compelling piece of journalism that raises reasonable and troubling questions about how the FBI and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) handled the matter. The film gives a brief history of the Branch Davidian sect and biographical data on David Koresh, their leader at the time of the debacle, before laying the groundwork of the events that led up to the Waco standoff and the FBI's eventual attack on their compound. While the film presents both sides of the issue, Gazecki makes clear that the FBI's own evidence can be used against them as often as for them, and asks why so much key evidence that could have determined what exactly happened (for example, whether the shots that killed many of the Davidians were fired from within the building or from outside) was either destroyed or simply lost. Neither an attack on Koresh and his followers as armed lunatics nor a conspiracy theorist's mass of wild conjecture, Waco: The Rules of Engagement carefully and meticulously presents facts that escaped most mainstream reports on the Branch Davidians, making the case that the FBI's conduct was at best ill-considered and at worst a reckless violation of the rights and safety of the people involved. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

This movie is one that everyone should see. It should be released in the widescreen. I am currently infuriated after watching it. Again, it is disgusting to see how corrupt our government is. This movie is full of factual data and footage. You won't believe the things they did. Denying the fire department access to the fire, destroying the crime scene with tanks, denying shooting when all victims were shot after autopsy, destroying reports and files, hanging an ATF flag on the property after they burned it down. One disgusting thing after the next. Americans need to wake up to what is driving our government. We need to unite together. This is our country and it is supposed to be our government.

This documentary will disturb you. It shows the US government torturing children and their parents to death. The film presents evidence of the use of military force against civilians. After watching this documentary, it is quite impossible to believe the government's findings that blamed the ones who were slaughtered for their own doom.

This is just one of many atrocities that our govt attempts to cover up. Open your eyes everyone and see that this govt of ours is hell bent on carrying out its Imperialistic agenda. Everyone is corrupt...the senate hearings were a complete joke in this matter. I'm glad people will get a chance to see with their own eyes, how our govt manipulates evrything and evryone. This is a must see. Having seen this again for the 3rd time, Senator Chuck Schumer should be strung up by his thumbs for his disgusting statements and behavior at the hearings. These people were all killed by our govt, the cover up by everyone from top to bottom should make every citizen pause and question the people that we put into power.
