This film biography of the French torch singer Edith Piaf (1915-1963) was made simultaneously with a French and English soundtrack. Piaf (Brigitte Ariel) grew up on the streets of Paris and was a bawdy, powerful character. This film chronicles her rise to vocal pre-eminence, and highlights her career in the '20s and '30s.
