This movie is a documentary showing the evolution of a musical style. Fortunately for the viewer, it is also an opportunity to see some of the practitioners of that style in much footage never before released. A must-see for devotees of the style, enlightening and entertaining for others. The effective use of interviews, physical tours of the birthplaces of the music and lengthy performances give the viewer quite an overview of this music and its practitioners. History of the blues style and areas where it was developed very interesting. Local performing artist clubs where the music is now played was well done.

Great documentary. I haven't been able to take a tour down south to see some real blues, and some of these masters aren't with us anymore, so I loved being able to get a good sample of some real blues. Only problem was that all of the parts with RL burnside were messed up by the producer who wanted to jam with him. Seeing RL in his element before he became famous still makes this a classic though. If you are an RL fan, be sure to watch the deleted scenes. NOTE - Everytime he says 'WELL!' What he's doin is asking for another round of the 'well' wiskey at the bar. In this case he may also be trying to drop a hint that he's ready to stop the jam ?

Some old, but fresh blues. The narrator smoked too much weed in the 60's, but the music is solid and worth the watch.
