Also released under the title The Rites of Summer, this film follows the adventures of pampered city boy Alan Block (Sean Astin) when his parents ship him off to a wilderness camp. Once there, Alan and the other three campers must attempt to live up to the tough expectations of their guide, Vic (Kevin Bacon), who is determined to push the kids as far as he can--and maybe farther. ~ Iotis Erlewine, Rovi
Mostly rented this film due to Kevin Bacon's starring role. Story of a group of city boys forced to go on a wilderness excursion during the summer by a borderline-psyhopathic guide (Kevin Bacon), that is that he places the kids in situations way beyond their skills putting them constantly in danger. The film has a nice edge to it, but a little distracting by the 80's musical score that is so repetitive of films during that decade. Additionally, Sean Astin's charater Alan's dweeby narrative detracts from the plot. But it is entertaining & fairly tense throughout the movie.
