This movie IS subtitled. The story is a little bit confusing with the flashbacks intertwined with musical numbers. Interesting and different - especially for a Chinese film. Not a huge fan of the ending but an enjoyable movie to watch.
Altho everything is in Chinese this is one of the movies edited with the western viewer in mind.
It could be considered a musical
Xun Chou is at her beautiful self although not her best performance. The story line is rather simple. Could have been more interesting
Fist of all, this movie IS subtitled (at least on the Blu Ray I rented). Some people may not know how to use their DVD player.
I wouldn't quite say it is a musical, so much as the characters in the film are making a musical. There are several nice song and dance numbers, but it does not dominate the film.
The story is a bit repetitious, yet also confusing since the time line hops around frequently. In the end, an entertaining romance film, especially if you like foreign films but find that movies from China are vanilla. When I got this movie, I promised the Mrs, "You have never seen a Chinese movie like this", and I was right!
