The megalomaniacal rise and fall of filmmaker Troy Duffy is chronicled by one-time friends and colleagues in director Mark Smith's documentary. The film takes its title from the "overnight success" that befell Duffy in 1996, when the then-bartender was signed by Miramax president Harvey Weinstein to direct his killers-on-a-mission-from-God script The Boondock Saints. Smith's cameras follow Duffy from pre-production -- when he battled with executives over casting and financing decisions -- on through to the lackluster release of the film. What's more, Duffy expected his relative cinematic success to translate over to his burgeoning rock band as well -- and the tension created by the presupposed deal caused him to alienate just about everyone involved with both projects. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

Being a big fan of Boondock Saints, I had to see this movie. You start watching it, and it's like every minute longer you watch this, the more and more you hate Troy Duffy. He's a self centered know-it-all with a talent for writing, but no people skills at all. This movie pretty much chronicles his failure, and like they were all saying in the beginning of the movie: He deserves everything that's coming to him. And How. Great Movie!

This zipper head almost deprived all of us from ever seeing “THE BOONDOCKS SAINTS” In 88 minutes you get a good idea of how he managed too piss-off almost everyone in Hollywood, and take down all his friends with him, because his ego is as big as the planet Jupiter. Come to think of it that might be where he is from . . . Nah. My guess is Pluto. But his totally wacked attitude produce one of the best films that I have ever seen . . . FYI . . . See my review of the “BOONDOCKS Saints.” This is a very entertaining documentary, and a great two movie set with the aforementioned movie,.

Wow!! We're HUGE fans of BDS, but we were completely blown away by this documentary. I hope Troy has taken these lessons to heart, because he's a great writer, BUT, there are a lot of great writers out there, so he needs to put his attitude in check and be grateful. A must see for BDS fans!! I'm guessing Paul H. who reviewed this had NO CLUE that this was a documentary, not a scripted movie for entertainment purposes. You really need to see Boondock Saints I & II. Thank goodness TD found a way to get II made. We're hoping for a BDS III.
