Jane Austen's well-intending cupid comes to the screen once again in this adaptation of her popular novel starring Doran Godwin in the title role and John Carson in the role of Mr. Knightley. Having already orchestrated the marriage of longtime friend Miss Taylor, the scheming Emma next sets her sights on local vicar Mr. Elton. As Emma plots to find love for the vicar and her protégée Harriet Smith, her longtime friend Mr. Knightley looks on with a bemused mix of delight and dismay. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
We love this genre and this story in particular (both movie and book). This version was so bad that we didn't get past the first 2 minutes. The acting was stilted and ridiculous. There was no way we could have stayed with it any longer.
it takes a little getting into and is a little slow at times particularly the beginning. however, i liked that i was able to see much more of the character development and dimensions. you can also see how some of the characters in the recent hollywood version acted their part similarly, i.e. gweneth paltrow.
