Terence Young directed this first of a long line of screen adventures with Ian Fleming's unflappable British Secret Service Agent 007 in a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek style that set the tone for the rest of the popular series. Sean Connery sets the standard by which all future takers must measure themselves as the insouciant and devil-may-care James Bond. The story concerns Bond being sent to Jamaica to investigate the murders of a British agent and his secretary. During his investigation, he comes into contact with the evil and unscrupulous Chinese scientist Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman) who, living on an island called Crab Key, is hard at work in a nuclear laboratory. Dr. No's scheme is to divert rockets being fired from Cape Canaveral off their charted course and to blackmail the United States to get their rocket launches restored to normal. Helping Bond is Ursula Andress (mostly undressed in a bikini throughout most of the film), as well as bad gals like Zena Marshall, who almost leads Bond to his death in her bedroom, and Eunice Gayson, a Bond pickup in a London gambling house who proves herself a greater adversary than even James Bond can handle. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

The first Bond movie ever, and one of the best ever too! Sean Connery and Ursula Andress set a good precedent for Bonds and Bond girls in the decades to come!

Sean Connery's first outing as 007. He was awesome you can tell he would be Bond for years. He was 31 looked older, wore a wig, but he was still handsome, sexy and got the girls. Bond girl Ursula Andress is the way women should look. She had curves. She wasn't bony with no shape like the stars of today. Great movie

Gotta applaud Ursula Andress for being mostly naked throughout the whole movie. Connery doesn't let the ladies down either. A must see Bond movie. Everything about it is wonderful.

Dr. No Special Edtion is still the best Bond movie. It's classy, yet a bit tongue-in-cheek.

first and last time I saw this was at age 16. Nostalgic. Sean is still the best. Interesting to see the direction of the Bond movies after this one. Great acting. Who needs the gimicery!!

I recommend that all James Bond fans look for this digitally remastered. The quality is awesome and looks as good as it did in 1962. This movie is the movie that started the frachise off right; a fan can't miss this one.

This one really points out the failings of the most current" Bond light" efforts. Does anyone believe that if Connery and company had approached this franchise with the politically correct junk they are putting out now. I understand the current Bond wannabe believes it is time for Bond to kiss another man. I am sorry that is not why people watch these movies. If you want to make a gay friendly or gay promotiing movie fine, please don't destroy this series with such stuff. Bond is a super spy, ladies man and the exotic locations and over the top gadgets are all part all of the best 007 movies. Dr No is one of them and is worth the time to watch again and again. I only wish we could be looking forward to more movies like this one in the future, sadly I think probably not.

This movie was good...the good ol' Bond makes his 1st movie Dr. No a success........ but well....its good but it has too much talking and not enough action. MGM was good with assossiating the film. All I'm saying is the movies good but it doesn't have enough action.
