Read MoreIt's probably understandable that after Geena Davis' ill-fated Cutthroat Island, Long Kiss Goodnight would slip by virtually unnoticed, but it's really a pretty good film. The six-foot beauty once again proves her mettle as an action film star and manages to pull it off with a certain flinty grace and charm that other actresses would be hard-pressed to duplicate. As the film develops, you might actually find yourself believing that Davis could have been a covert assassin. Samuel L. Jackson, as the ex-cop turned shady private eye who helps Davis' character Charley uncover her past turns in a winning performance with just enough badass-cum-pathos to make it memorable - in fact, you might gain a glimpse of what Jackson would ultimately deliver to us in Pulp Fiction. Well-cast, tightly edited and with a good pace, Long Kiss Goodnight is one of those just-for-the-fun-of-it popcorn chompers that should have made it more of a hit than it was.
