Read MoreI first saw this movie when I was only 14, and to this day I can't believe that so many people found it boring. To me, it is gorgeously filmed, wonderfully acted, filled with lust (there are some seriously steamy scenes), war, exhalting romance, crushing tragedy... Sure, it's a little long, but the performance are riveting. Please give it a shot! It does not follow the book exactly, but I find it hard to imagine a better-executed adaptation. I actually agree. It seemed very long and it was extremely hard to get into, but there is something that shines about this movie. Some aficionado of heroic stories about triumph and defeat within my head screams his approval, and I just guess I'll have to go with him. If you can follow it, it turns out to be a very interesting story that ends in a little heart-wrenching way. I'd rent it, because it is, after all, a classic. Now I need to read the book. I'm sorry, but this was way too long and way too boring. I stopped in the middle of the movie and gave up. Still don't know the ending, but you what - who cares! Why did it win a lot of awards!! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
