The acting was so-so, but its not supposed to be perfect. It was good for a horror movie, and that in itself was a miracle. The movie kept me guessing to the end, and it had a surprisingly funny climactic scene. If you haven't seen this Wes Craven thriller classic, rent it. That is, if you like scary movies. Scream is looked upon as revolutionary because ... Read More Wes Craven is NOT the master of horror. He always manages to simultaneously add to the genre and dumb it down at the same time. Scream is no exception. Scream is looked upon as revolutionary because of the revealing of the horror rules. So what? The premise behind the killings was done in the movie, Hell Night. So, that wasn't anything new. And, the phone call harassment has been done to death, pardon the pun. It was done in, Black Christmas (great movie), When A Stranger Calls, and so many others before, Scream. Oh, but not with cell phones. So, we can give him that little nugget. Scream is entertaining in that "fast food", pop-culture horror movie way, just like, Cursed and, A Nightmare On Elm Street. Read More I love this movie and I was really looking forward to seeing the infamous Director's Cut. Could it be that Blockbuster actually got its hands on this rare version? Not a chance. This is NOT the directors cut. Blockbuster can't get its act together when it comes to giving decent details about the films. AMG is notorious for bad info and Blockbuster depends on them. If you e-mail Blockbuster, you will get a real sincere, concerned reply but the details never get fixed (see Prom Night-widescreen, Humanoids from the Deep-right version and now Scream-directors cut). I first saw this movie when I was younger, it was bright and sunshinny outside...and I was terrified of this movie! This is the movie that got me to become a horror buff, this movie cant be topped. I see movies that are STILL trying to be like Scream. This movie is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. P.S. Read More The gimmick is that it's a horror movie that's aware that it's a horror movie. All the characters have seen lots of horror movies and they know all the rules--like anyone who leaves the room and says "I'll be right back" is going to get killed, or the only teenager who can live to the end of the movie is the one who hasn't had sex yet. Fine, that could be a clever premise. Except that the movie doesn't really do anything with it. In spite of it's supposed self-awareness, "Scream" degenerates into just another horror movie clone--pretty much exactly like every single other mad-slasher, pick them off one by one until the final confrontation movie you've seen. O.K.--maybe it's slightly better than "Halloween" or "Friday the 13th." But not by much. And at least those films aren't pretentious enough to pretend that they're innovative. Bottom line: if you like teen slasher movies, you'll like this one. If you're looking for something that transcends the genre, this isn't it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

This is a stupid movie about stupid teenagers doing stupid stuff. The only reason people like this movie and it's sequels is because there's always some school girl bimbo running around half naked, trying to escape from the slasher...and she does the stupidest stuff like trips on nothing...and for some reason cant open the front door...and well..u get the point.
