Read MoreThrilling, creative, and funny, I was pleasantly surprised at this pre-LOTR film by director Peter Jackson. The quirky characters were fleshed-out well by the actors. It just looks like everyone had a great time making this movie. CGI was fairly new when this came out, and they did a great job creating the mysterious ghost on a killing spree. The director's version of the film adds 14 minutes of bloodier & darker moments, plus it has lots of Peter Jackson's making-of video. A good, scary DVD rental. Nothing particularly WRONG with the movie, but nothing memorable... Best thing to come out of the rent was finding out that in a way we owe Lord of the Rings to this movie.
