8 out of 8 people found this review helpful All worth it for the performance by Emily Watson. The setting is beautiful and the story is unique. The sexual scenarios in the movie are not as controversial as one would expect after reading other reviews (although, definitley for adults only) and are not really a big part of the film at all. This is one of my new favorite movies.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The story is amazing. If you're not used to a movie that tells a story rather than have it moved along with action sequences or music, you may have trouble enjoying the film. If you're not a fan of the director's movies then you may have trouble getting into this film, but overall it's an awesome story. I highly recommend this movie to those true romantics out there. She was mentally disturbed, she spoke to God & God answered in her own voice? Then she really believed that by her actions he was actually getting better! Give me a break! Too out there for me. I'm still thinking about the film 2 days later. The ending was very moving and so unexpected . I think the shaky, hand-held camera look of the film only added to its' appeal as it helps to convey the harsh setting of the movie Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I felt as though I should see this film because I'd read it was good. But I have to admit I was assuming it would be kind of tedious - especially at close to 3 hours long. I'd heard about Von Trier's efforts in other films and they didn't appeal to me. I was wrong. This is a masterful piece of film-making. The acting is first class and the story is thoroughly absorbing and unique. A lot of reviews have complained about the chapter breaks but I really liked them. They added something surreal to the whole mood and I believe that helped the overall impact. Did I mention the acting was first class? See this film! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
