This is a fine piece of work. The story is about a man (Turturro) unhappy with his life as it is - and unable to reach beyond his own comfort zone to make it better. Along comes a series of events that leads him to a weekend in the woods where he meets a young man (Rockwell) who inspires him to live life larger than he thought he might. The script, the acting and direction in this film are just beautiful; and it's a movie that will stay with you for some time, as all good movies do. Highly recommended.

So John Turturro is the white-collar guy who the employees hate and he finds a grey hair. It doesn't take a loss to make somebody go off the beaten path to reflect on their life. I good story about an anal-retentive guy that forgot about what's good in his life. It was a pleasant little Indie film. Who knew the the nudity in this was frontal male? It's about time. ;o)

I went in with no expectations and came out satisfied. It's one of those odd little movies that were coming out in the 90's and holds it's place well among the better ones. Turturro is great as always and the the story and characters are well developed. it's a simple movie, not a blockbuster. well worth it.

Odd movie. I liked it somewhat, my wife couldn't wait for it to end, however. I liked how the main character evolved in the movie.

I like John Turturro and Sam Rockwell as actors and while they acted well in this movie I didn't like either of their characters. I cared nothing at all for Turturro's character and could really have cared less for what he was going thru (of which we only get a glimpse of what he's become, not what led him to this state of being). Rockwell's character was in mind, little more than a cliche', a caricature, and while I found his character more endearing (which wasn't hard considering Turturro's character portrayal of "wet paint drying"), Rockwell's very good acting wasn't enough to make this characterization more than timidly interesting. The theme of the movie may well be about self-discovery but the characters are such that I really didn't care what they finally discovered.
