Set in the year 2017, Barb Wire takes place after democracy has fallen and a fascist military junta has taken over the U.S. government, plotting to wipe out the country with Red Ribbon, a laboratory-manufactured disease derived from the AIDS virus. The entire test city of Topeka has been annihilated, and only the small bastion of Steel Harbor remains the last free zone in the country, conveniently the home of the title heroine Pamela Lee. Barb, a leather-clad, silicon-stretched motorcycle mama, happens to carry antibodies for Red Ribbon in her DNA, thus making her an enemy of the state. She sets out to defend freedom and take down the evil government by posing as a stripper and seducing foolish male adversaries with her well-displayed assets. I remember when this came out & how bad it was knocked, but i just watched it 4 the first time and really didn't think it was that bad, it reminded me of other female action comic translations such as Aeon flux and Tank girl even Resident Evil, it could've been way worse such as Elektra, Cat woman, and the 1st Tomb raider (sorry ang) which all have better actresses- 2 of em r oscar winners! but Pam performance holds up 2 em n this type of film just as much as those acknowledged actresses, so give it a shot if u like any of those movies & you'll c it holds up with them, not that anyone has won an oscar in any of these films but they are women in action film and I rather watch them in action than a man any day.

I was expecting a skin flick and what I got was a skin flick with a decent story, acting wasn't great but come on, I used to watch Baywatch, I wasn't expecting great acting. It's a little bit like Xena meets Road Warrior with some Barbarella tossed in for fun. I liked it and I've seen it a few times.

Remember, it's a movie based on a cartoon/graphic novel. Mid B range movie is how I view it. I find that the synopsis given at BB doesn't quite match the plot of the movie, but no matter. Some topless-ness at the beginning of the movie, but fairly PG-13 after that. Acting is not as cheesy as the TV show V.I.P. (didn't see Baywatch). Watch it as a Saturday afternoon/late night golf/tennis/infomercial/NASCAR replacement.

It really is a good movie. I'm sure most women don't like it because its 90 minutes of the hottest Pam Anderson ever. And the men that rate it low are trying to score points with their women. Truth is, this is a classic. Action, explosions, adventure, fantasy, and knock your socks of Pam!
