Read Morestop what you are doing and rent this film!!! this is the first from paul thomas anderson and he pulls out all the stops in this one! a perfect human study which unfolds into a soap operatic tale of human dignity to uphold "tradition" in the strangest of ways. phillip baker hall is outstanding in this role. obviously, the academy doesn't view films like this, because he would've been nominated and won!!! you won't be disappointed!!! I really enjoyed this film. It was interesting simply because of the performances and direction, not because of gimmicks, special effects, or chase scenes. A refreshing change! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreWe were looking forward to a good evening with an interesting movie - what a disappointment! The film is too slow. Unlikable characters, monotonous conversations, waste of good actors. In the 30 minutes into the movie my husband suggested to give it up and watch something else instead. I persuaded him to give it some more time hoping for the action to finally start unfolding.
