The feel of the 1970s is palpable. Ignore the brain-dead reviewers who say it's slow; it's real. And the implications of this true story are frightening--and need to be relearned in our time. Read More Most people have heard of Watergate. Most people have never heard the remarkable story behind Watergate and the two Washington Post reporters that poked and prodded their way to the truth about the Watergate break-in. The screenplay, written by William Goldman is remarkable. It takes the complexity of Watergate and makes it easy to follow. It's a dramatic movie, regardless of your politics or your knowledge of history. Hoffman and Redford give above average performances in their portrayal of Woodward and Bernstein, the Washington Post reporters. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Rule of Thumb: "The Simsons" do not reference a movie unless it is a classic. This holds water with "All the President's Men" , the 1976 thriller (it has plenty of drama but it feels more like a thriller) starring Hoofman and Redford. Does anybody think they'll remake this with Pitt and Cruise? Just an idea because of the height similarity, in serioussness a true classic and a must-see for anybody who considers themselves a movie lover.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Hoffman and Redford are SO great !! From the taping of a door in the Watergate hotel - that ultimately leads to the President of the United States stepping down from office and under an Impeachment trial - this movie has EVERYTHING !! If you like puzzles - and following the clues - you'll LOVE this American Classic movie !! Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (the original Watergate reporters for the Washington Post) are portrayed BRILLIANTLY - - not only in their roles in the Watergate cover-up, but their differences in their personalities - Liberal vs. Conservative - - but let's get the job done !! Wonderful - - simply WONDERFUL movie !! A true American Masterpiece !! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Hoffman and Redford do this long, informative, and slow documentary-like movie a good bit of goodness. Their acting is quite good, and the source material is very interesting. But you can't rouse much action in the sleuth reporting of these two. So, this movie is slow. But if you want to know about the Watergate incident and how the trail of blame was followed all the way up to the president, you should watch this. It's enjoyable, but like I said, very slow. Read More Redford and Hoffman definitely do give powerful performances, and the director of the post got an oscar for his performance. That being said, let's keep in mind that great performances do not always make great movies. Personal opinion: this movie is tedious and dull. The pace is slow and the movie is too long, yet it manages to hurry the ending. It is instructive, but not as action packed as it could have been. An ok film, watch it to understand watergate. Read More I love historic films, and this one did not disappoint. However, it was a little slow in the beginning, and it seems they ran out of film money, based on the abrupt ending. The movie presented a good account of the Watergate scandal. The movie did miss some good points, including how did one of the reporters (Redford) started his key relationship with “Deep Throat”.
