Mel Brooks does it again with this send-up of vampire films. That Leslie Nielson plays the great blood-sucking count gives viewers a good idea as to what they are in for. This Dracula takes himself very seriously despite the fact that he's a bit of a klutz with a tendency to slip in the bat guano that adorns his castle floor. Staying very close to Bram Stoker's original story, Brooks also pays sly homage to other major vampire film classics, including Nosferatu. Though silly but subtle gags abound in this outing, Brooks has taken great care to recreate the late 19th-century atmosphere in rich detail and harkens back to Hammer horror movies popular during the '50s and '60s. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
I love Mel Brooks. I think Leslie Nielson is one of the funniest actors out there. That being said, this movie was only okay. It has its moments, but there is so much more that they could have done with it. It is slow moving in parts and some of the jokes seem forced, but it has its genuinely funny moments too. Don't expect too much of it, and you will probably enjoy it.
Mel Brooks and Leslie Nielson I just love this bunch
This is a funny spoof on the Dracula movies even the shadow is not left out love the Hair/hat
OKay so its not close to winning any award, if your a fan of spoofs on scary movies, then this one is for you...
Last time I saw this, was when I was 11... So it just brang me back to good old fashion "easy laughs"...
If your up for a stupid comedy tonight, then this one is for you!
A very funny movie! It is a little different than most Mel Brooks movies in that it actually tries to follow Bram Stoker original story, but I thought he pulled it off. Plus there is not a better actor to play Dracula than Leslie Nielson! I don't think another actor could have pulled it off, but Nielson's dry pan way of delivering lines makes his Dracula very funny, without becoming a complete joke.
Mel Brooks does it again with his 1995 hit Dracula Dead And Loving It. Dracula (Leslie Nielsen) is the ever infamous blood thirsty vampire. After Renfield (Peter MacNicol) visits Dracula, Dracula hypnotises him to make Renfield his assistant. Together, the hilarious dou plot to find victims for Dracula to feed on and insects for Renfield. After hearing of Dracula, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing (Mel Brooks) goes to Transylvania to help a man by the name of Jonathan Harker (Steven Weber) to destroy the most infamous vampire.
After all is said and done, I'd highly recomend this movie to any movie goer who would like their funny bones tickled. Mel Brooks have been known for his witty humor and slapstick comedy for several decades, and in this movie, Mel Brooks keeps it up. I personally would rate this a 5 out of 5, and say it is my favorite Mel Brooks movie.
