Just as the original 1950 version of Father of the Bride spawned a sequel, so did the 1991 remake; like its counterpart four decades earlier, this story concerns a father who learns that his anxieties are just beginning after his daughter takes the big walk down the aisle. George Banks (Steve Martin) has finally adjusted to the marriage of his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) when the fates drop a new bombshell on his head: Annie and her husband Bryan (George Newbern) announce that they're going to have a baby. While George's wife Nina (Diane Keaton) is happy enough about the news, George is thrown into an immediate mid-life crisis; while he and Nina were once discussing the possibility of selling the family home and moving to a place on the beach, George impulsively sells their home to Mr. Habib (Eugene Levy), a greedy land speculator. Now, with ten days to move, George gets even more unexpected news: Nina, who had earlier been fretting about the onset of menopause, has just learned that she's pregnant as well. George now has to deal with being a father again as well as becoming a grandparent, while he also figures out how to get the Banks family home back. Martin Short returns as Franck, the oddly accented wedding planner from Father of the Bride, who has moved into a new career organizing baby showers and redecorating homes. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I like this movie. A real genuine and classic family movie. Of course the part where that one guy wanted to buy and demolish their home, was sad. Great Family Movie.

This movie was very sentimental to me. When this movie came out, I was pregnant with my 1st child! I thought this was every bit as enjoyable as the 1st Father of the Bride (which incidentally came out the same year I got married!) . It was funny and heartwarming and even made me cry--maybe that was my pregnancy hormones! Nevertheless, enjoyable movie.

They should have NEVER made a sequel to the original here - - as this is just plain idiotic and STUPID !! I absolutely hated this - - because it cheapened the original...which was a CLASSIC VERSION of this warm-hearted movie ! Like a great philosopher once said...I think it was me...."Love is like a baby; sometimes it stinks and needs to be changed." This movie STUNK !!

They did a good job on part 2. Again, very well acted & very believable story line. This isn't a roll on the floor hysterical comedy, but a cute movie nonetheless. A little teary at some points.

Bad movie. Just say no. The original version with Spencer Tracy completely overshadows this poor remake. In the original movie the humor was in the simple truths that Spencer Tracy had to face. Getting older, losing his daughter, the burden of the expenses of the wedding. Everything seemed to land on his shoulders. We sympathized with him. Steve Martin's character was just an idiot. He suffered the burden of what was going on while everyone around him treated him with disdain. He was treated like an insensitive idiot. His only option was to metaphorically go out to the woodshed and cleave off his manhood, and go along with the womenfolk. Hard to be sympathetic for a character that's treated like a dumb chauvanist. How dare he have his own feelings and concerns! Kind of annoying. Especially unbelievable was the actress who played the mom. Not beleivable at all. Ugh
