For anyone interested in history this is a fascinating film and Isabelle Adjani who plays Queen Margot is a beauty to watch! I would say that at first it was hard to know who was aligned to whom, perhaps because one has to read the English subtitles and because you can't tell a Catholic from a Protestant! This is, although fiction, very close to the reality of their time. The aristocracy had a very thin veneer of civilization and manners, but underneath the civilization was hatred of outsiders, the willingness to kill without remorse, and a grand hypocrisy between their stated and acted religious beliefs and what they actually did.
