Linus Roache and Tom Wilkinson are inspirational. If you are a hard core religious person don't bother watching this movie. You just won't get it. This movie is for people who are capable of feeling compassion and for people who aren't afraid of questioning religous dogma.

This was a powerfully emotional film with brilliant performances by Linus Roache and Tom Wilkinson..the male to male sexual scenes were riveting to say the least..the mental torment by the priest was all consuming and impossible not to feel ..of course the ending was the climax of this priest's nightmare..very well done!! 3 stars!

I liked it. Although starting at a slower pace than I expected, this movie shows the character change in the young priest: thinking he knows who he is, questioning who he "really" is, accepting his fallacies and final redemption. Powerful performances and the ending scene is beautifully framed in the church and very touching to watch.

The movie has a great story to tell. The characters are well developed and the message flows from the the telling of the story.

The best part of the excellent story one is helplessly drawn into by "Priest," is that no one (except God, if we can rightly understand God) is perfect in their efforts to be good. How is it that we have become so inclined to judge others, when we ourselves are so desperately in need of understanding, encouragement, mercy. Excellent reminders by a film that is beautifully structured and professionally executed.

I was a little reluctant to rent this movie but I'm very glad I did. I thought the story was great, the acting was OK but the ending was fantastic! I was immediately taken in by the story line and was very unprepared for the ending event that was probably one of the most heart felt moments I have ever seen in this kind of movie. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone that is familiar with the Catholic church, the stigma associated with it, and the experience of loving someone that in your heart you knew would never work out.

Yes, the social commentary is astute. Yes, the acting is good. But unfortunately, the pace of this film was slow enough to tempt me, on multiple occasions, to just turn it off and read a book.
