So often we are drawn to films about our own ethnic backgrounds. This film provided a glimpse into the experiences of others, which I found most interesting. The portrayal of the characters of the different generations, along with the contrast of values between the generations, is something we all can relate to. The Mexican Reparation authorized by Herbert Hoover to deport Mexicans, some of whom were American citizens, provides the background for this gripping story, which depicts the impact this situation had on families as children were suddenly were without parents and spouses were separated. There are many threads of universality in this film. Thoughts of this film were with me for days after viewing it. For me, thiÂs is the benchmark of a film that is very much worthwhile. This moves was direceted by Francis Ford Copola so i really doubt that he would intentionally create a movie about the "white devil". This movie is told from the hispainc perspective. The music score is excelent, choosing classic songs from each era. I belieive it is a fair depiction, taking the good and the bad. The stuggles of a lower class family shown in a very unique and interesting way.
Great movie. You'll see some actors in this movie who were just starting out. The history of the people in the movie is interesting and it's a moving story. Very good!
Multiple aspects of the film insinuated endless judgment about the "evil white man." I was highly offended. Documenting the oppression of one culture does not justify attack another culture.
