It definately teaches the harm of drugs and the terrible road they can lead to. Leonardo DiCaprio's acting was stellar and the story was riveting. It certainly is not as artistic as Trainspotting and is even a little cheesey in a couple places, however, overall, it is a gripping movie with outstanding, heart wrenching performances. It is dated and, as biopics go, it doesn't deliver with any kind of power or create character insight or artistic knowledge or anything that should get a viewer to invest 100 minutes of his life in it. This is a great movie! The writing the acting the plot are all great. This is a must see, but is gut wrenchingly sad at times. If you have teens have them watch it. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
