I'm not into slasher films, gratuitous gore or extreme violence at all; this movie is edge-of-your seat suspenseful and unforgettable. Don't watch it alone! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I remember seeing this movie a few years ago and was moved by the intense scenes and deep thought that went into this. It spooked me and had many eery moments. Especially when you watch this in surround sound you will know what I mean. It is not seemingly understood by some viewers here who are very childish, negative and prone to drug-like boredom. You missed a great movie that has a multi-faceted message to. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More You can see the mixed reactions from the reviews , a love it or hate it type of film. I can see how some people may like it since its got good production values with recognizable actors and a well known horror director. Carpenter tries to create a surreal, horrific nightmarish world but hes simply not up to the task and the scenes seem trite, totally unfrightening and cliched.

Read More Much better than I expected, and about the last good thing he's done in a long time. I was disappointed by the cheap scare tricks, but on the other hand Carpenter had some other very effective setups and slower shots. The drive through the night, the maniac at the restaurant, imagery like that that stands out as some of his best. Lovecraft fans should not miss this one, it's plenty of of HPL influence and tribute from start to finish. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I rented it all the time but never bought it, then forgot it. When I saw it was available, I had to see it again. It actually held up pretty well. I wasn't near as scared as I once was, but I don't know if it was because I saw it so many times or I have seen many scarier movies since. My husband hated it. His loss...
