This was the first Hitchcock movie I'd seen and it still stands out as one of my favorites. It's not that amazing in light of what movies are today, but when taken in context to the time it was created - it's amazing! It's got all the elements necessary for a good movie, mystery, humor and Grace Kelly. Watch it - and afterwards watch the dvd extras... they'll help you appreciate what this movie accomplished. Entertaining, compelling and engaging from start to finish. You learn early on who the bad guy is, but it's fun waiting for the police to figure it out.
I actually like the tv series, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" better than this movie. It is worth watching. It's not quite as good as Psycho or Vertigo, etc.

I enjoyed this movie. Having seen "A Perfect Murder" first I was surprised that there were so many differences in the story lines. I found this movie to be more suspensful. Especially the scene of the husband trying to get Grace Kelly's keys. The only thing I didn't like about this film, is that I didn't think it was believable that the investigator, a judge, and jury wouldn't believe Grace Kelly's character and sentence her to death. I thought that was reaching. But overall, a good film! Close this Review

Deeply flawed and frustrating movie. The wife (Grace Kelly) and her adulterous lover are portrayed as heroes. But the husband plotting to kill his faithless wife is by far the most interesting and sympathetic character. The ending is predictable, sappy, and unsatisfying. It's hard to see what the film-makers were thinking. Kelly's beauty almost saves it, but in the end it's fatally flawed. Re-made as A Perfect Murder, with an equally unsympathetic wife. You wish the killer had succeeded, or at least the husband gotten away with it. Why should we care about two shameless adulterers? Just because they're attractive and well-dressed? Close this Review
