This b/w French film is widely appreciated for the man who out Hitchcock Hitchcock. I personally found this movie very boring. The script is long and has useless dialog. The only reason why this gets a little higher rating is the very surprising ending for its time. I was even really fooled by it. Very well done ending but not worth a watch.

I like both versions of this movie. I saw the Sharon Stone version first. In the orginal version, the death scene was a bit over the top (movies didn't try to be as realistic as they do now - no behind the scenes consultants) but other than that, it was good. I like black and white movies so having no color was not a problem. I was surprised how moderlnly trampy the mistress looked. She looked like someone from this generation. I guess her type hasn't changed much in appearance in 50 years.

Hip_School_Preppie

This is a very good old school thriller flick. I didn't mind the subtitles at all. One the original thrillers with a twist in the end. Worth the rent for historical purposes if nothing else.

Vera Clouzot and Simone Signoret are pretty beat looking in this flick. I just thought that it was a snoozer. There was absolutely no reason for it to have such a giant running time. I do admire the dark, noirish overtones, but the movie just didn't come together for me.
