I was a big fan of Winston Groom's novel, and when I heard that a movie was being made I was afraid it would be terrible. Little did I know that it would turn out to be quite possibly my favorite film of all time. Tom Hanks is perfect as the bumbling but ultimately triumphant Gump, and the epic story traverses every human emotion imaginable while never coming across as hokey or contrived. This is the one film above all others that I can literally watch over and over again and never tire of. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, and always entertaining, Forrest Gump is a truly remarkable film.
