Not your average movie. Alot of subliminal things going on here. Battles beween God and the Devil play out well in a great 30's era setting. To trully enjoy, look past the obvious.

Just. . .a weird movie. It felt overbearing, overacted. The sets are great. The movie is okay.

Fantastic screen play and extremely creative movie. Many levels of paradox and complexity beneath the strange surface characterizations. Watch and enjoy it for the experience and the brilliance of the writing/acting. I am an Actuary (realist) and normally do not enjoy this type of movie (post modern, off the wall, expressive creative), but I absolutely highly recommend this one. One of the few movies that I actually recommend to people.

Intellectually amusing flick. Running gags typical in Coen Brothers movies. Chock full of the Coen's "usual suspects", when given a chance this movie will deliver!

I thought this movie was just great on every front. Well-shot, well-acted and brimming with pertinent social messages. Tim Robbins works well with Jennifer Jason-Leigh. This movie has a sort of "Brazil" feel to it. It shows the dark underbelly to capitalism while never really preaching. Beautiful ending too. Highly recommended.

I liked this. It was clever, funny, entertaining and "stylish". Not an exciting movie and not a lot of action but still a fun movie!

Just another great film by the Coen brothers who know how to write a good story and bring it to film as well. Just smart and fun and pure Coen brothers. Paul Newman was great and Tim Robbins was simply wonderful. I can't imagine anyone else in that role. Mailroom clerk goes straight to the top -little does he know he's just a patsy. Watch for the buiding clock keeper to be Father Time of sorts and the building maintenance man that removes the names from the office doors when someone is fired (or dies) to be the Grim Reaper so to speak. Their little battle at the end is the kind of stuff I love the Coen brothers for.
