This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I actually remember seeing this at the theater years ago. The story with Gilbert's mom is heartbreaking. Terrific film. I have seen it at least 10 times! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing as Arnie and Johnny Depp as Gilbert was great. I "felt" Gilbert's desperation and almost an inability to breathe and yet he continued on and on. . .not expecting his life to change really. Kevin Tighe (Adam 12) had a strong performance as an insurance salesman in this "no where town". Juliette Lewis played delicate "spite-like character" who brings a breath of fresh air to Gilbert. leonardo dicapro...wow what an amazing performance. you actually believe he is arnie for real, not just playing a part. the movie is touching and heart warming. check it out if you haven't already. :) WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

This movie kept my attention from beginning to end. Leonardo did an EXCELLENT job portraying his character, Arnie. And Johnny was the good brother who gave up his dreams to take care of his brother & extremely overweight mother. It made me laugh & cry! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI watched this in 1993, so I knew the general story line, but I was still charmed by the characters, the dilemma and the finale. Juliette Lewis is sparkling in a peripheral role. Johnny Depp portrays an overburdened but responsible teen who must act as father to Leonardo's character, Arnie. This is perhaps one of the most emotionally well-thought of movies of all times. Johnny Depp as Gilbert Grape is outstanding. Leonardo di Caprio as the retart brother is convincing... Must watch WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
