Besides Star Trek this movie was one of the great ones to really introduce Aliens and Humans working together and their strong differance. I saw this movie when I was 13 years old and I was amazed then and now that i'm 37 I can say it's still great.

Aliens have been stranded on earth and incorporated into LA society. Much like American immigrants at Ellis island, they have been assigned American names and jobs. This is the first film in a series, and they are all wonderful. It's not just good science fiction. The focus is on human-alien relations which can be discriminatory or understanding, shocking or commonplace, and often funny. Great entertainment.
