Not as good as the previous movies. Most importantly, this movie failed to make a surreal connection to the first two movies because the original Robocop we got so used to in the first two movies is not there .Even though he makes a stunning entrance at the start of the movie, it was disappointing to find out that the original actor playing Robocop is gone! They replaced Robocop's original Peter Weller with this other guy. He does not look like the old Robocop nor does he sound like him either. To those of us who grew attached to the original Murphy and his sad and haunting past and then his recent sudden-new acquired human likeness present in the last movie when he stated, we're only human, this Robocop seems to have forgotten that and so has everyone else. Even his female partner calls him by his branded name in the beginning of the movie. In this film, Robocop is back to being emotionless and when acquiring sensitivity, it is like a whole new experience again.

The man behind the story and screenplay is comic book artist/writer Frank Miller (director of SIN CITY), so to really get in the mindset of this film you have to detract a bit from reality and picture a more exaggerated version of American society. That being said this movie doesn't carry the dark humanistic realism of the first movie. I wouldn't reccomend this movie to anyone unless you are both a Robocop fan "and" a comic book enthusiast. Peter Weller's absence from the film is a let down too.

this movie was done poorly but was done as a fallow up of the 2nd one, and made the big business into a nazi cult, and the Japanese angle was great

I saw this years ago on TV. I had seen the first two and liked them and couldn't believe the one-star rating in TV Guide. Well, TV Guide was right: No redeeming value in watching this. It's hard to relate to any of the characters, either the supposed good guys (street people) or the supposed bad guys (corporate people). Robocop is his usual emotionless self, and seems especially flat with nobody to contrast against. Unless all of the "good stuff" got cut out of the TV version, this just isn't worth the time to watch.
