How can you NOT love this movie? I actually think this movie was the best of all three Turtles movies because it was a lot more violent than the following two, which were much more kid oriented and goofy slapstick fighting. The first one was darker... a lot darker. More serious, more human (or turtle) psychee viewing. But I love the first two (the third was cheesy) and I always want to eat cheese pizza when viewing them. Cowabunga!

When I was a kid, I loved all things Ninja Turtles. This movie was among my favorite. Now I HAVE kids, and I still love this film. Revisiting Leo, Don, Mike, and Raph with my own son was a wonderful experience. The story held up extremely well; complex enough to be interesting, but not too convoluted. It's probably the best Turtles origin story, blending elements from the classic cartoon with elements from the original comics. The acting was great considering, and the Turtles' look was top-notch for the time. (Of the 3 Turtle films, the characters looked the best in this one.) The dialogue and wit is still quite funny. From the opening skirmish saving April to the final battle with Shredder on the rooftop, the story is exciting and enjoyable... and even includes a morality play on troubled youth getting into gangs and the true meaning of family. Whether you're a new Turtle fan or you're a big kid with kids, this film is a classic and more than worth your time.

I am old enough to be out of college and I am constantly drawn to watch this movie. I don't understand why somebody would not like the turtle costumes, given the time period this can't be beaten.

Ah, unfortunately, this movie from my childhood doesn't hold up too well to the test of time. The action is very slow and the story grinds to a halt for an extended 'rest period' out in the country that turns out to be dominated less by soul-searching and more by bad puns and boring voice-overs. I enjoyed the TMNT immensely as a little girl, but I just can't say that this movie is worth revisiting.
