If you let your children watch R rated movies make sure you watch this one. It is very heavy material and very graphic. It was hard to watch, not because it's bad-- but because it is difficult to know that the subject matter is historical.
The cinematography is amazing. The black and white really helps set the mood. If you have never seen this movie, watch it. Make sure you have tissue and can devote the 3 hours it needs... it may seem like a long time but the movie does not feel long. If you've seen it before, get it again. It was like being there, watching news reels.....and I will never watch it again. They toned down the horrors of the hollicost just enough that you can sit through it if you have a very strong will. Thank God it was about the people who lived. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

You forget after the first 2 minutes that it's in black and white and by the end you are so emotionally invested in these people you feel like you know them and shared their experience, even though this is only a tiny glimpse of what they had to go through. After seeing it I went and bought the book. This movie is very important and I truly believe if you are over the age of 16 YOU SHOULD SEE IT. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
2 out of 2 people found this review helpful This was not just a movie, this was an understanding of living truth. It is simple, "We are all equal." Why do we still walk around today as if we are not?WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The violence makes you feel cold inside. It just shows you the horrible capabilities humans can have. The score by John Williams intensifies the emotion you feel watching the film. The movie feel long but thats not a bad thing. The length allows you to feel for the Jews on a deeper level and makes you feel more than if it was 2 1/2 hours.
