With Denzel and Tom Hanks , can it get any better! A wonderfully done, very sensitively handled movie. Tom Hank's eyes and his expression, the evolution of Denzel's character, everything in this film deserves 5 stars. The acting, the direction, the music( awesome) , this is one of the most unforgettable movies I ever saw. You must watch it, you will never regret it, I promise. The movie explores the discrimination and isolation experienced ... Read More There is a reason why Tom Hanks is one of the premiere actors of our time. His performance in Philadelphia is poignant and realistic. The movie explores the discrimination and isolation experienced by people living with AIDS. Yes, Hanks' character is gay but this isolation is not confined to homosexual males. It is an isolation based on misunderstanding and fear. Do you remember the little boy with HIV (sorry I don't know his name) who was kicked out of school many years back because other parents thought their kids would get AIDS by drinking from the same water fountain? Read More This movie was well acted, well put together, and well written. It really struck the nerve of AIDS and HIV and how we, yes we, thought of people when AIDS first was discovered. Unfortunately, there are many people who are still prejudice against people with AIDS and think they could catch it with a sneeze or a cough. We'd all be dead at this point if AIDS was transmitted that way.
