Neglecting Julie (Frances McDormand), his lawyer lady friend, Dr. Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) works feverishly to perfect his latest invention -- artificial skin that could be used to treat burn victims. Peyton himself falls victim to an explosion when one of Julie's crooked clients sends his henchmen to sniff out an incriminating document that's been left in Westlake's lab. Hideously disfigured and left for dead, the good doctor receives an experimental medical treatment that renders him super-strong, impervious to pain and prone to heightened fits of rage. Rebuilding his lab into an underground hideout, Westlake begins using his synthetic skin to impersonate various characters and engineer his revenge against those who destroyed his life. Reconnecting with Julie, however, becomes the unsightly vigilante's biggest challenge. ~ Brian J. Dillard, Rovi

Great movie, but the action could have been a little bit more scary.

I really like Liam Neeson, but this was not one of his better moments. It could have been so much better, but just turned out to be a very cheesy, over acted mess.

feels like a comic book or graphic novel. good, well-meaning scientist loses girl and gets hurt by mobsters. he finds a science to change his face and goes after them. interesting story, couple of good dialogue lines and some silly ones, too. liked the effects and the music. kind of reminded me of batman in that an innocent man is scarred by bad guys and dedicates his life to punishing them for their crime. but due to how he is scarred, he can never be normal again. this is a fun movie to watch, though a bit dark at times.

Good mindless entertainment with a simple revenge plot. Very much like Sin City. The lead played by Liam Neeson is an anti-hero right out of the comic books. Overall a fun movie. If you are a serious, or chick-flick type person, best to skip this one.

This is a dark movie. I have seen this a long time ago, and it is still dark but fun. The Faces are a great part of the story. It was good enough to get two more movies. I am a fan of superheroes, and scary movies. This was a little of both in a great mix.

Classic 90's movie

With the exception of a couple cheesy lines and some terrible acting, there are some really classic Sam Raimi scenes in this movie. This is an original, unique, story that comic/superhero fans should watch. More importantly, there's a Bruce Campbell appearance, and that's all that matters.
