Happy Hell Night (1993) Reviews

Happy Hell Night (1993)
Member Rating:
A pointless and ill-advised return to the slasher movie formula -- which had long since worn out its questionable welcome by the mid-'80s. This silly endeavor begins with a hazing stunt perpetrated by pledges of the Phi Delta fraternity, who try to break into a local insane asylum to take a photograph of the homicidal Father Malius (Charles Cragin). Malius, we're told, was responsible for the deaths of several college students nearly 30 years before, and is merely biding his time until he finds the opportunity to kill again. The foolish pledges set off a chain of events allowing Malius to make his escape, whereupon he makes a beeline for his former killing grounds with pickax in hand. From this point forward we're treated to an amalgam of every tired slasher cliche in the book. The only noteworthy element of this dismal production is the brief presence of Darren McGavin, who looks rather disinterested until his lively "surprise" death scene. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Blood: 1 1/2 Cheese Factor: 5+ Acting: 1 1/2 Overall: 2 1/2 Ok so overall I'd have to say this movie was a bit too slow paced for me, I just got more and more tired the further it went. It did have its moments but not many, the killer guy was kinda creepy which is more than I can say for most horror movies. I had to laugh though because the "frat boys" in this moive are like so obviously in their late 30s early 40s! And what the f*ck may I ask is Hell Night? They kept saying it but never really saying what it was.....Halloween maybe? I dont know, if theres nothing else to rent...I dont know what to tell ya.

This is a 80's horror movie it has the most annoying theme song would not recommend listen to for then few seconds, but this movie is creepy, nude scenes a few, if u turn out all the lights get rid of all distraction and get in the mood to watch a horror movie. You will proably find this movie ok.

Low grade "B" movie that starts out annoyingly slow. You may want to watch it with some friends since the first half was apparently made to be a drinking game. Take a shot every time somebody says "Hell Night". As for the movie itself, it's sort of like "Halloween" except without the competent acting and writing. The evil demon/killer is actually pretty creepy (except, for some reason, they gave him crappy one-liners to say every time he kills somebody). The acting is pretty bad and even though there is a plot it just falls apart at the end into a random, disjointed series of events. Really poorly executed. It's passable for the unique killer, some decent gore, and does pick up in the last half. I still advise you play the drinking game just to make it that much better.

Not really good but there are a ton of movies that are worse out there. The plot is very old and unimaginitive with some pretty lame acting. Take a pass on this stinker! Rates a 6 on the suck-o-meter.

Not a bad horror flick to stumble upon. I liked the storyline and the gore was decent as well. This definitely has an 80's look and feel to it. The dialog of the killer is pretty annoying though.

Not great but not too bad either for slasher movie fans. Killer is creepy looking. Beginning was ok but went downhill toward the end.

This movie is so pathetic and bad, that its a moldy piece of cheese. I seriously hated this film. The killer looks like Nosferatu and my great grandpa Leo. It has the same plot as any other B-movie horror. "Horny Teenagers alone+ escaped mental patient+the bad actors you just hate and wish the killer would get them to end your movie-watching misery=really stupid." Sorry, but the same campy plot used in Friday the 13th, only works for Friday the 13th. Skip this dumb, retarted film!!!
