I don't know why it took me so long to see this movie but I'm glad I followed a recommendation to see it. It took awhile for me to get into it and I thought, "where is this going?" But about 30 minutes into I started seeing the direction and it was just great. I love movies that help me to learn about other cultures and this is definitely one of them. The Indian actors in this movie are just some of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. Kevin Costner was wonderful.

I found that the extended scenes did add to the story, especially as to what happened to everybody at fort Sedgewick before Dunbar and Timmons arrive there and broader development of some of the native american indian characters. Kevin Costner supplies one of the bonus directors commentary tracks, and we found that to be really excellent and of great interest to those who like the 'backstory'.

I just love everything about this movie. The extended version is wonderful and adds more depth to the story since you get to learn more about the characters. This is one of the few movies that my husband and I have watched many, many times (we own it) and we never get bored with it. It has action, drama, some humor and a love story. The look of this movie is just beautiful. I'd say it's an epic masterpiece that is a must see. Costner's best movie ever.

This special features disc is terrific! If you like knowing how great movies are made, you'll love this disc. However, if you were expecting to see the movie, you're in for a big disappointment; like you maybe wasted a selection?!? Blockbuster should have clearly labeled it as the Special Features Disc ONLY! Not merely, Bonus Disc. But since you've got it anyway, you may as well enjoy it! It's worth seeing.

If you add this to queue you will receive the documentary of the making of the movie. Not the actual movie. I love the movie but I'm not big on watching features about the makings of a movie. I have requested additional DVDs only to receive the same commentary. I have report this issue. They should correct the movie details to reflect that this is not the actual movie...

It is important to highlight that this is an extended version of the film, containing one or two subplots that are not entirely crucial to the narrative, and blur the moral lines of Lt. Dunbar's character arc. The added scenes do more to delay the narrative than to advance it. Otherwise, Kostner, McDonnell and Graham all shine, but unless you're an avid Wolves fan and four-hour epics light your candle, stick with the original.
