Oh well..... rent it and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Terrific acting throughout and the theme song is fantastic. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The reveal of the Dill character was particularly masterful. The portrayal of the main theme of love conquering all, even in impossible circumstances, is the common thread throughout the film. The Crying Game has captured the heart of viewers so remarkably on what remains a difficult topic now and likely for years to come. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I know I put it in my queue quite some time ago. Maybe I thought it would provide some insight into the "troubles". I certainly didn't expect the dross that was presented. I probably should have read the previous reviews before wasting my time. Anyway, what was the "successful psychological thriller" part of this movie? It certainly wasn't the "truth" about Dil. That was obvious by that characters third scene. I agree with a previous reviewer. There was no need to bring the IRA into this. I guess they were just convenient villains in 1992. Would a remake of this movie today use the gimmick of radical Islamic terrorists instead? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

(I think Hollywood often awards gay-sensitive films just because there are so many gays in Hollywood.) I got this film because I had heard that it had won so many awards, but I knew nothing about it. I don't remember it as being very good, and never got passed all of the homosexual content enough to be able to catch the plot. It was just so slow that it was confusing. --- Don't get me wrong. I've been able to sit and watch other homo-generated films, like Taboo and Fighting Riley, but this one was just too much for me to take. In fact, my wife could not even deal with this one, and she's much more open-minded than I. Some things should just stay in the closet, and this film is one of them.
