With a story that seeks to continue the famous tale of Heidi, Courage Mountain focuses on the teenager (Juliette Caton), forced to leave her grandfather (Jan Rubes) to attend an Italian boarding school on the eve of World War I. The German army appropriates the school, and Heidi is forced to depend on her smarts until she can be reunited with her boyfriend Peter (Charlie Sheen). ~ John Bush, Rovi

This movie takes up where Heidi is a teenager from the famous children's book. She has to deal with fellow students, World War 1 and the Alps in the winter. This is more of an action story than the original Heidi and does have some violence. The character development is done like the book so the characters are likable but not real well developed. The period scenes are done well. Leslie Caron is nice to see in the movie and does a nice job. Charlie Sheen, as Peter, has a supporting role and does well although it would be nice if he had a little accent like the other characters. The most touching scenes refer to the first book. It is always good to see grandpa in the movie. The movie probably is for people who enjoyed the original book, it probably does not stand on its own. It is probably not for children who are under 9 or so because there is a little violence.
