I'm not a fan of oldies. But this one is different. Acting is quite good overall. The lines (jokes especially) aren't as dated as most movies in the same genre. However, the aspect of character development is virtually unmatched. It's a "must see" for anyone looking for a great love story.

Cary Grant is his classic self in this movie. He is wonderfully, fantastic. You know someone is a great actor when they can make you cry with an expression of their face! D. Kerr is also great as a woman who is not immediatly swept away with Grant's charms and gives him a bit of a challange.

It is a classic love story of all times--an "affair to remember," as Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr will go down in history for this one.

I was so happy that my wife also wanted to bail on this after 10-15 mins. I love old movies. I think the music, script, costume and production design were terrible. I am sorry but this is how I feel. Perhaps we should have given it more time but I could not get past the constant music.

Wow, my first time seeing the whole movie. If you like romance in an idealized world then this is it. True love on display in a beautiful way. Cary Grant is great and puts in a gutty performance to show some emotions that he usually doesn't have to deal with in his other movies. Deborah Kerr is fabulous in her understated take no guff, hometown girl way. It makes you remember that if you really find passion, and I mean a feeling, not an act, then it is worth the sacrifices that will lead to happiness in the end.

This film is remarkable in that, like "Life is Beautiful," it seamlessly proceeds from comedy to poignant drama. Even after watching this movie multiple times, there are compelling elements that continue to haunt, like the theme song. It comes from an era when romance and true love could be conveyed on-screen without vulgarity or explicit scenes. Sadly, those days are gone, but we can "remember" this affair fondly.

I liked the story and it had some funny parts as well. The locations were beautiful. It didn't seem realistic that a guy as good looking as Clark Gable would even be interested in someone like Deborah Kerr. I didn't like her at all in this movie, she just seemed too plain for him. I think a better choice for a woman from this era would have been Maureen O'Hara, she is more striking and captivating.
