Two South African music lovers embark on a mission to uncover the fate of an obscure, 1970s-era U.S. rocker whose debut album became a surprise hit in their home country, and uncover a shocking secret along the way. Sixto Diaz Rodriguez had the kind of musical career that every aspiring rock star fears -- lauded by critics but ignored by the public, he released two albums before unceremoniously disappearing from the spotlight. But while sales of Rodriguez's debut CD Cold Fact fell flat in the U.S., overseas in Australia and South Africa, the fans couldn't get enough. In apartheid-torn South Africa in particular, Cold Fact became something of an anti-establishment classic, eventually going platinum. Later, rumors began to swirl that Rodriguez had suffered a horrible death. When Rodriguez's second album Coming From Reality makes it's belated debut in South Africa, a pair of devoted fans take it upon themselves to uncover the facts surrounding the mysterious musician, and get the surprise of a lifetime while attempting to track the profits from his record sales. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

What an amazing story and what an incredible talent and individual. How he ever fell through the cracks like that is a head scratcher to me since his music is right up there with Dylan in my eyes. I am now on a quest to find out how I can buy his two CD's. Wish me luck!

WoW! A very touching, surprising, interesting story. It grabs you and never lets you go. You wonder all the time "Is this for real?" It just leaves you with a warm feeling that they can still make inspirational films like this. And yes there is a villian. See if you can guess which music company is the villian. This did what "Cloud Atlas" couldn't do with it's massive budget.

Best movie I've seen this year. A documentary that plays like a fairy tale, and with a happy ending to boot! I watched the movie twice, then bought the soundtrack!

We weren't sure what to expect from this documentary, but we were absorbed by the story as it unfolded, and the filmmaker's style well suited the subject matter. Living in southeast Michigan and growing up in the sixties, I regret not having heard of Rodriguez back then. Definitely want to get his albums now!

A very unusual and inspiring documentary. A very intense story about tje great 70's artist called Sixto Rodiguez who was barely known world wide but indeed ahead of his time musically and politically...Good.

Fantastic heartwarming documentary about a man and his music and his vision for a happy life. Love the outcome of this true life scenario and just totally chilled (in a good way) to the lyrical ballad style music of Sixto Rodriguez. Kudos to the documentarians who had the vision to focus on this quiet soul's music and his vision (not theirs) as well as such soulful music as the background glue which is what it's all about after all. Good luck at the Oscars!
