An ex-getaway driver flees from determined feds and vicious gangsters after quitting the witness-protection program in order to drive his girlfriend to her new job in Los Angeles. Once upon a time, Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard) was a getaway wheelman for a quick-triggered gang of bank robbers, comprised of unpredictable Alex (Bradley Cooper), smoldering mastermind Neve (Joy Bryant), and their sharp-dressed sidekick (Ryan Hansen). But after being placed in the Witness Protection Program and falling for pretty Annie (Kristen Bell), Charlie's criminal past has faded into the rearview mirror. When Annie lands an interview for her dream job in L.A., Charlie vows that she won't be late, and they hit the road in his custom-built muscle car. From the moment they leave town, however, Annie's obsessive ex-boyfriend Gil (Michael Rosenbaum) is hot on their trail. Gil is interested in Charlie's shady past, and after learning his true identity with the help of his policeman brother, Gil rats him out to Alex and the gang -- who promptly gas up their station wagon and give chase. Now, with bumbling U.S. Marshal Randy (Tom Arnold) trying to keep pace and protect Charlie, the former criminal finds every escape route blocked by his old gang -- a vengeful group who aren't about to let his past sins go unpunished. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Stewart and Shepard are together in real life so their characters showed a bit more intimacy or familiarity than one would expect. But they also danced around each other when arguing. Cooper should do more work like this but the script attempted to make his character likeable (when he obviously was not). There was a bit of hamming it up all around. The cars were great though. A '67 Continental is always a treat to watch... especially when doing donuts on the highway.

Corny plot ... but sprinkle a little bit of Dax Shepard and it's a hit. His unique odd-ball sense of humor makes any movie memorable. My wife & I loved it.

It's obvious this was written and likely bankrolled by Dax as no real producer/writer could have come up with something this bad. He must have had some sort of leverage on Cooper to get him to appear in this tripe. Although marketed as a comedy, I guarantee you will not find a single funny moment in this movie; and I turned it off a half hour before it ended. Kristen Bell again demeans herself in a junkie role by playing one of the most annoying hamster-brained girlfriends ever. Literally 70% of the movie is her nagging Dax relentlessly and getting upset when discovering he was a criminal…. Surprise! – to nobody except her that is. The Tom Arnold character makes no sense and adds nothing. It would be a good idea for Kristin Bell to take on a role for once that requires her to do more than just be a smart-aleck, then maybe we could see if she actually has any acting talent. I would avoid this movie even as a free rental.

I usually have some awareness of films coming soon to dvd but didn't hear a thing of this one. Surprising with such a good cast etc....what a pleasant surprise. Watched it On Demand - only problem only have limited time that it's available without purchasing again. When there's nothing new good to rent will definitely watch again down the road.

Actually not bad although I never heard of Hit & Run. It has a good cast (congrats Dax Shepard) and a silly but fun plot. Rent this one if you enjoy nonsense type of entertainment. We did!

Great action and even better dialogue. I never heard of this dvd but I read Roger Eberts review and gave it chance. I really enjoyed the movie and the extra's on the DVD. Dax Shepard is great and Kristen Bell is smoking. There are some great scenes with supporting actors. I am going to watch it again to catch the jokes that I was laughing to loud to hear the first time.
