It has all the elements a truly great film should have. Good story with intense internal conflict, a hero who is an everyman, an exotic locale, true romance and plenty of suspense and humor. Everyone knows this is a great film but before it was made so many movies tried to create the feeling it did. Not just a great movie about the redemptive power of true love but of integrity under adversity and hope amongst chaos and nobility amongst people just trying to survive. I love it! I'm glad I finally saw the whole movie... I usually get interrupted. Beautiful Bergman is lovely. Dang! She didn't waste a moment. Watch this movie, buy it! Read More Although I've listed "The Fugitive" as my favorite movie of all time, "Casablanca" is truly the greatest. I find "The Fugitive" to be the most interesting and engaging film I"ve seen, but this one has true greatness and has and will continue to endure as a true classic. Humphrey Bogart is perfectly cast, and the tough yet romantic character he plays seems to appeal to all audiences. "Here's lookin' at you, kid" is just one of many famous lines in this film, and this movie contains the most memorable quotes of any I've seen. Claude Rains is also an excellent supporting actor as Louis, and he and Bogart were both robbed of the Oscars they deserved. The film proves to be interesting, humorous, and inspiring, and it becomes more so "as time goes by." See it if you haven't yet.

Read More This movie has everything - romance, comedy, adventure, thrills, and a twist ending. The success it has had over the last 60 years is a testament to its endurance, especially considering there were serious doubts as to whether it would be completed at all. If I remember correctly, 5 of the lines in this film where in AFI's Top 100 Movie Quotes, the most of any movie listed. This is one to watch over and over. Definitely worth watching and owning! Read More I've seen tons of movies, and this is by far my favorite. The acting of all the major characters, not just Humphrey and Ingrid, is great, the story is compelling, and the soundtrack is awesome. If you don't feel something when Rick first sees Ilsa when he interrupts Sam playing "As Time Goes By" and says "I thought I told you never to play that" I don't know what's wrong with you. The story is deep and complex and the actors handle all of it perfectly. The ending sort of left me wanting more at first, but after watching it several more times, I think they got it just right. Had it ended any other way, it would have just been another good movie and not one of the greatest. A Must See for everyone!! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
