The Usual Suspects' Christopher McQuarrie brings Lee Child's Jack Reacher character to the big screen with this Paramount Pictures release starring Tom Cruise as the lone-wolf investigator on the hunt for a murderous sniper. Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins, Rosamund Pike, and director Werner Herzog co-star. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi
The name of this movie should be Tom Cruise "Is Not" Jack Reacher! Anyone familiar with the Jack Reacher Novels knows the character is: Very Tall, powerful, brutal, aloof, Smart, and dangerous. Casting Cruise is like Michael J. Fox being "Rocky Balboa". Though Cruise is a fine actor in the right genre, here he's just smarmy, and incapable of filling Reacher's shoes. (in many ways). The carefully choreographed fight scenes may seem exciting to young teenagers, but compared to the real Jack Reacher, or to a competent fighter, they are absurd dance moves. I'm disappointed the author (Lee Child) sold out, and castrated Reacher with Cruise. ( I know he probably made a bundle of money, but it still leaves a bad taste in a fans mouth) If your even thinking about seeing this, read a "Jack Reacher" novel. The thought of spending anything to see this movie, will instantly leave your mind.
