A serial killer shifts his focus from hunting female victims to stalking the two detectives attempting to end his reign of terror in this tense crime thriller inspired by actual events. When a secluded Texas marsh becomes the dumping ground for a murderous maniac who preys on young females, local homicide detective Mike Souder (Sam Worthington) teams up with transplanted New York City detective Brian Heigh (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to put an end to the vicious killing spree. Meanwhile, the cunning psychopath quickly turns the tables on his pursuers with a tantalizing series of carefully placed clues. But when the elusive killer makes the fateful mistake of abducting a young girl (Chloƫ Grace Moretz), he severely underestimates the detectives' determination to bring her home alive. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
My husband and I thought this was a very well done film. Very accurate and the acting was good. It did not have a lot of bad language and wasn't too gory. We recommend it. Nancy C.
It was a very good movie. I was expecting to read something about the actual murders at the end of the movie.. something about the facts that this movie is based on.
This movie was very poorly done: disjointed, hard to follow, lots of extraneous material that distracted from the story line (if there was one), very little closure. I just last week saw on TV the news story about this case (either 20-20 or Dateline) which was much more interesting and to which the movie not even remotely bore any resemblance. BTW what did the Jason Clarke (Tommy from "Brotherhood") and his unfortunate companion have to do with the rest of the story-if there was one-and what happened to him? Not that I care.
Good cast. Sam Worthington is quite good. Chloe Grace Moretz has a great career ahead of her. I wish they could have explained the actual problem with the Killing Fields but it is brushed over. Otherwise, very watchable.
Very good movie! Suspenseful, scary and edgy. Lot's of interesting characters with a plot that could curl your hair.,especially since it is based on a true story. Acting was really good. Mood and tone of this movie really worked to carry through.Well done. Recommend!
A surprisingly good movie! Sam Worthington, whose acting ability usually runs from A to B, does very well in a low-key role. That "hunky" Jeffrey Dean Morgan--and who didn't wish he would just die already on "Grey's Anatomy"--did a very nice job of acting. Chloe Moretz is a budding star and the guy who plays the killer was three kinds of creepy. Good cop show, definitely worth renting.
