Read More Hands down, no argument, no dice, and undoubtedly: Butch Cassidy as the irreplaceable Paul Newman and the Sundance Kid as the awesome Robert Redford is the el primo of duos. I mean, come on, who wants to mess with these guys? Robert Redford is the best shot in the 19th century, and Paul Newman, well, all he has to do is look at you and you don't want any business of his. This was a great movie for that reason. Newman and Redford make this movie, and comedy, adventure, action and guns fill in the rest. The only problems I have with this movie are one: the storyline does not feel complete; I felt as if I was dropped in at a random time. Two: the strange Bacharach soundtrack on a Western setting is annoying. The ending really gives you something to think about, but I wish that there was more of Butch and Sundance to see. More like a Silverado. Can be a little slow for todays standards, especially for young adults with short attention spans. My friends (in their twenties) and I enjoyed it. But Butch and Kid was a pretty good movie overall. The bicycle scene, with the song "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," was actually one of the best scenes of the entire movie. The ending - the shootout - is CLASSIC !! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This Western has a light, modern feel with delightful banter between Paul Newman, who plays Butch as an affable, funny bandit, and Robert Redford as Butch's sardonic cohort and ace shot, Sundance. These two desperados delight themselves and townspeople alike with their daring and pacifistic feats of robbery, and things go rather well for the pair until the day they decide to go straight, which only seems to emphasize the credo that no good deed goes unpunished. Rounding out Newman's and Redford's star performances are Katherine Ross as Etta, Sundance's genial and beautiful love interest as well as Butch's good friend, and Burt Bacharach's lighthearted tunes, which provide an odd, yet very apt fit for such an unconventional Western. George Roy Hill does an admirable job of directing, mainly because he trusts his stars' instincts. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I watched this movie for Paul Newman so you could expect that as long as he did well in it I would like it. He did, and Robert Redford did just as good of a job. Both sharing one women, Robert giving sex and Paul providing entertainment, they rob until they get too deep into trouble and then ride off into Mexico to do exactly the same thing, ending with a show down to their death. Butch Cassidy always seemed to be on TV when I was a kid but I never got to see the whole thing. Bedtime usually happened between Butch' bicycle ride and the Bingo spitting prospector. Finally seeing it from start to finish is worth at least one star. The movie's not a true western. It's about Newman's and Redford's chemistry and banter. Pop a bowl of Newman's popcorn and enjoy it on a lazy night. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More While the chemistry and banter between Newman and Redford (two of my favorite actors) is top-notch, the rest of the film just doesn't hold up that well. The use of then-contemporary Burt Bacharach music in a Western - particularly the jazzed up vocal sequence - is nonsensical. Also, the use of faux vintage photographic stills in montage form in lieu of actual filmed sequences seems, well, cheap. This is a mixed bag. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
