Ian McKellen and James Caviezel headline this remake of Patrick McGoohan's landmark British television series. Shortly after resigning from a clandestine spy organization based in New York, a man (Caviezel) awakens in The Village and discovers that he's now known as "6." A desert oasis in which conformity is the key to contentment, The Village is populated by people who seem to have no knowledge of the outside world. Everyone in The Village is designated a number, and the omnipresent 2 (McKellen) is always watching. But while most of the locals seem to thrive on the simplicity of life in The Village, the only option for desperate 6 is to escape at any cost. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Anybody watching this series should be sure to watch the last DVD because it ties all the series different aspects together for you (things that don't really make sense during the series)...may watch disc 3 first would be a good idea. I really did enjoy the unusual concept of this movie and was constatnly intrigued by what was going to happen next.
If you are familiar with the original, you're hooked at the begining, then this production becomes 'not your father's Prisoner'. Yet it maintains all the quirkiness of the original.
Suspending your belief is needed. If you can do that, this is a great watch! If you can't sit through a movie (or series) without going 'what's happening" this is not for you.
Don't come to this Prisoner expecting anything like the original. Few of the familiar trademarks are here. It was not as bad as I expected it to be after the brutal reviews it received when it debuted on cable. I liked a lot of the little homages to the original. The resolution and the ending, however, fell very flat. The best I can say was "it was okay."
Ripped Off!!!!! Who wants to watch scene xxxxxx??? I am supposed to get the last episode.....instead I waste money on this xxxxx I want my money back!!!!!!!
