A psychotic woman and her adult sons torment the new occupants of their former house in director Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of the demented Troma classic. In the wake of a botched bank robbery, three brothers race back home and learn that their mother (Rebecca De Mornay) has received a foreclosure notice. Flash-forward a couple of months, and the new owners of the home are throwing a housewarming party with a few close friends. In an instant, the brothers have taken the party guests hostage. But the real horror begins when their mother arrives. Sadistic, ferocious, and fiercely protective of her malevolent sons, she turns a happy celebration into a depraved nightmare of torture and death. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Very intense. Actually wanted the good guys to win in this movie. Nicely done and very good ending. The trailer doesn't do justice for this movie. Definitely a must watch if you like these type of movies!
Saw the original back in late 70's. Typical of the times. Low Budget slasher film. This new version was something else. I was very impressed with the enhancement to the story line. It was more of a suspense thriller than a slasher movie. Rebecca De Mornay was AMAZING!!! Main reason I rented this film is I love it when she plays a bad guy. Good shocking moments..had some cringing moments as well. All around a great remake.
This movie was a great surprise! You really want to see how the good triumphs over the bad. Some good twists and a nice ending. Very glad I rented this movie.
