Director Lasse Hallström and screenwriter Jamie Linden collaborate to adapt author Nicholas Sparks' novel about a young soldier who falls for an idealistic college girl. Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried) was on spring break when she first met John Tyree (Channing Tatum), who was home on temporary leave. For the smitten soldier it was practically love at first sight. Over the course of the next seven years, when each deployment seemed more treacherous than the last, the love letters that Savannah sent to John were one of the only things that kept him going. However, those loving and heartfelt correspondences would ultimately yield consequences that neither the brave soldier nor his one true love could have ever foreseen. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Beautiful love story. There was decency, beauty, selflessness projected in this movie. The characters portray human jnature at its best which is so rewarding. How the relationship between John and his father evolved was also inspiring. Good acting, beautiful beach scenery, a happy ending. Definitely worth seeing as a feel good movie.

This movie was better than I expected. Watched it with my lovely wife, and we both liked it a lot! Beautiful people, and a great love story, don't always make a good movie; but this time it worked. Recommended to all... especially younger couples.

I liked this movie and it was well done but the romantic sap in me would've liked to have seen more passion as well as them together sooner...maybe married..with a child..

I read the book last year and unfortunately the movie just didn't do it justice. I was very disappointed.

Depressing, boring and least believable saga. Poor Channing and Amanda...so much talent, so little plot.

I saw this movie in the theater and I have to say I was very disappointed. It was very slow and I hated the ending. I was kind of sitting there as the credits rolled thinking is that really it.....man I should have saved my 8.50!

sweet. kind, gentle; I wouldn't know Savannah except as a place to visit...the man, he has been through dancing, boxing and now a semi-serious movie; I hope his agent is working with him or he changed, he certainly seems to have a place to go but the right venue(sp) hasn't come along yet..the military aspect has never been so confusing...i wonder who cut his orders..?
